About

Soy una alma viajera, gypsy…moving about the world, exploring the world. I enjoy learning about different cultures, learning different languages, photography, foreign films, global music, vegetable, fruit & herb gardening, West African dance, yoga, teaching ESL and more.

I was born in New Delhi, India and grew up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and later in Houston, Texas. I have traveled to over 30 countries and lived in Thailand, Bolivia, Zimbabwe and El Salvador. My favorite countries are India, Mexico, Ghana, Brazil, Cuba and Turkey.

I received a BA in international studies and communications from Trinity University in San Antonio. While at Trinity, I was selected to participate in the Peace Corps Internship program in Thailand. After I graduated, I received the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship which I applied to a 9 month certificate program in Grassroots Development and NGO Development in Zimbabwe through the School for International Training. After returning to the U.S. from Zimbabwe, I received a MA in international development from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.

From 2001 to 2010 I worked as the Partnership Director at OneWorld.net in the U.S. Before that I worked as a Program Officer at Pact, an international development organization; and interned with Catholic Relief Services/El Salvador.
